In their first state playoff final four appearance the #5 state ranked Grady boys lost to #1 ranked 5A McIntosh High School last night (1-4). It was a great season for the boys who played their first season in the bigger, competitive 5A Class. The Grady boys surprised the high school soccer community as the only #4 seed team to make it to the quarterfinals. The boys faced tough competition on the road to earn a spot in the final four including: #1 seed Johnson (2-1), #3 seed Dutchtown (3-0), and #2 seed Rome High School (1-0). The boys, Coached by Josh DiGiovanni and Nikolai Curtis, end the season ranked #5 in the state with an overall record of 14-6-2. McIntosh will face Clarkston in the 5A State Championship match on Sat. May 12 at 7:30 at Mercer University – Five Star Stadium.
The Grady boys lose five seniors this year including captain Christian Briggs, Justin Callahan, Tyler Randall, Erik Tischer and Braden Pressman. The team will miss the leadership, sportsmanship and commitment of the graduating players.
Congratulations to all our Grady Knights – players, fans and coaches! It was a fantastic season and the entire Grady community is proud of you!
