Atlanta, GA – The Grady Athletic Department is excited to announce the hiring of Daniel Stockdale as head coach of Varsity Softball and Varsity Baseball for the 2019-20 school year.
Coach Stockdale comes to Grady after serving for the last two years as an assistant softball coach at Georgia State University. In addition to leading the softball and baseball programs at Grady, he will also teach P.E. full-time at the school. A native of Atlanta, Stockdale holds an M.A.T in Special Education from Augusta State University (2010) and a B.S. in Sports Administration from Reinhardt University (2006).
“With the addition of the Walden Athletic Complex, Grady has ushered in a new era for its athletic programs,” said Stockdale. “I’m excited to be a part of it all.”
Coach Stockdale brings a wealth of experience in both sports to Grady, including successful runs at the college and high school levels. Prior to Georgia State, he coached softball at the University of Memphis and helped lead the Tigers to 29 wins in 2017, the second-most wins in program history. Before Memphis, Stockdale was Head Baseball Coach at NCAA DII Albany State University and an assistant baseball coach at NCAA DI Savannah State University. He also spent 2011 – 2014 as Head Softball Coach and Head Baseball Coach at Pinecrest Academy in Cumming, GA.
During his time at ASU the Golden Rams won the 2015 SIAC Championship, won the 2016 SIAC Regular Season Championship, and advanced to the 2015 NCAA DII South Regional Baseball Tournament for the second time in school history. Combined with his time at Savannah State, Coach Stockdale coached two ABCA/Rawlings All-Americans.
“Coach Stockdale is a terrific addition to our coaching staff,” said Athletic Director Patrick Johnson. “His experience, expertise, and passion for teaching and leading young people will be tremendous assets for Grady.”
