Coed Varsity Swimming, sw · Knights Come Up Short Against Reigning State Champs

November 14, 2019

The swim team fell to St. Pius in the boys, girls and combined scores in a dual meet at the historic Dynamo Pool in Chamblee on Thursday evening.

The Pius boys had a resounding win – taking eight of eleven events. Grady was led by Kai McHale who won two individual events – the 100 backstroke and 50 freestyle – with State Championship qualifying times.  McHale was joined by Keaton Tsepas Bucciero, Jabbaari Rhoden and Fred Hamilton for a win in the 200 Free.

The girls contest was much closer, with Grady winning more events than St. Pius. The Golden Lions’ depth, however, was the determining factor in their win.  Winners for the Knights were Maggie Watkins in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle, Jory Richardson in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke, Wyatt Schroeder in the 100 breaststroke. Watkins, Richardson and Schroeder were joined by Ariana Ramsey for a win in the 200 free relay,
