Led by a 2nd place finish in the girls 400 Free Relay, Grady swam to its best finish ever at the 4a-5a Georgia State Swimming Championship at Georgia Tech on Saturday.
The 400 Free Relay comprised of Jory Richardson, Wyatt Schroeder, Maggie Watkins and Ari Ramsey set a Grady team record with a 3:38.74. Their silver medal finish was the highest for Grady at the State meet ever.
The highest individual finish was Maggie Watkins who finished 4th in the 5oo Free.
The girls team finished 9th, the boys 12th – both all-time bests for Grady.
Every Grady swimmer met the top 30 threshold to score in the meet
In addition to the girls 400 Free Relay there were multiple team records set.
Team Records: Boys 50 Free – Kai McHale (22:24); Girls 100 Back – Jory Richardson (59.48); Boys 200 Medley Relay – Keaton Tsepas Bucciero, Liam Bray, Jabbaari Rhoden, Kai McHale (1:43.51); Girls 200 Medley Relay – Jory Richardson, Wyatt Schroeder, Sarah Prevost, Ari Ramsey (1:55.96); Boys 400 Free Relay – Jabbaari Rhoden, Keaton Tsepas Bucciero, Liam Bray, Kai McHale (3:22.89).
Their was only one senior representing Grady at the State meet this year – Wyatt Schroeder, who goes out as one of Grady’s all-time greats.
