Boys Varsity Football, Varsity Wrestling · Griffin Hired as Wrestling and Football Coach

The Grady Athletic Department is excited to announce the hiring of Gerren Griffin as Head Varsity Wrestling Coach and Assistant Football Coach.

Coach Griffin comes to Grady after working for six years in Clayton County, including last year as Head Football and Wrestling Coach at Forest Park High School. He received his B.S. in Kinesiology from James Madison University in 2009 and M.A. in Education from West Georgia in 2014. He will teach full-time at Grady in the P.E. department.

“I believe Grady High School is a unique place to work,” said Griffin. “It’s in a great area that provides a well blended student body. The academics are top tier and can compete with any school in the Atlanta and Metro Atlanta area. I look forward to engaging with students academically and athletically.”

At Forest Park, Griffin was part of a Wrestling program that finished 3rd in the county, saw seven wrestlers place in area, all seven move on to sectionals, and one earn a trip to state. He will head a staff at Grady that will still include current Grady Wrestling coaches David Bunker and Josh Crowder. “I want to credit David Bunker and Josh Crowder for all their hard work restarting the Grady Wrestling program. I look forward to working with these high energy, passionate coaches,” said Griffin.

On the field, Griffin will bring his knowledge on the offensive side of the ball to the Knights as the Offensive Line Coach. “Having another guy who has been a head coach on staff is invaluable,” said Head Varsity Football Coach Kevin Clark. “He has competed at a high level both in high school as a part of a State Championship team and in college as a player at JMU.” Grady finished the 2019 season 4-6 overall and 3-3 in Region 6AAAAA play.

“I want to thank Dr. Bockman, Patrick Johnson, and Kevin Clark for the opportunity to join the Grady Family,” said Griffin. “This is great for me and my family and I look forward to contributing.”
