The last time Grady Tennis faced off against Region 6-AAAAA rival North Springs was March 12, 2020, and it ended up being the last school athletic event of the season. Nearly a year later, the Knights took on the Spartans again in a pivotal region match and came away with two victories.
The Girls travelled to North Springs and took care of business 4-1, moving them to 3-0 in region competition. Tori Williams and Virginia Laster won at 2 singles and 3 singles, while Annie Laster and Michelle Durst won at 1 doubles. Emma Menzies and Olivia Allen closed out the match with their win at 2 doubles.
The Boys battled at Grady and pulled out a 3-2 win that lasted deep into the fading daylight. North Springs struck first, winning at 1 singles and 2 singles to take a 2-0 lead. However, Scott Whitley and Teddy Suazo turned the tide, winning at 1 doubles, and Cooper Cavalier knotted things up at 2-2 with a win at 3 singles. The match, just like last year, came down to 2 doubles, and Colin Stanley and Elliot Willner pulled out the victory for the Knights.
Both teams will compete next against Chapel Hill on Thursday 3/11.
