The Boys and Girls Track & Field teams competed on Saturday in the MTFXCCGA Invitational hosted by McEachern High School and came away with a pair of 6th-place finishes. The meet featured nearly 20 different schools and was the strongest field of the year for the Knights, more akin to a sectional or State Championship meet than a regular-season invitational.
The strongest performances on the Boys side came in the 3200 Meter Run, where Everett Schroeder finished second with a time of 10:29:74, and in the 400 Meter Hurdles, where Fredrick Hamilton finished second and Jackson Sexton right behind him at third. Hamilton also finished fifth in the 110 Meter Hurdles, and Sexton placed sixth in the 400 Meter Dash. Other top-five finishes included Xavier Sessoms finishing fifth in the High Jump and Xzavian Blackman finishing third in the Pole Vault.
On the Girls side of things, Kimora Carr posted the best individual finish for the Knights, finishing second in the Pole Vault. Grady’s strongest statements, however, came in the 1600 Meter Run and Triple Jump. In the 1600, Jamie Marlowe finished third (5:17:41) and Emilia Weinrobe placed fifth (5:41:96). In the Triple Jump, Taylor Edwards and Ameah Richardson placed back-to-back at third and fourth, respectively.
It’s a quick turnaround for the Knights, who will compete on Tuesday 3/16 in the Midseason Classic at Grady Stadium.
