The Grady Girls Track team competed in the Rome Relays on Saturday March 27th and finished third out of 13 teams. Topping the event highlights were the performances of the 4 x 200 relay team (Eryn Boone, Ameah Richardson, Taylor Edwards, Tahjee Hinton), and Distance Medley Relay team (Jamie Marlowe, Keira Ely, Ellie Spears, and Emilia Weinrobe). Both teams broke school records for their respective events, set in 2012 for the 4 x 200 and 2017 for the Distance Medley. The 4 x 200 team also set the meet record in the event.
In another historic moment, Alajah Bashir became the first Grady athlete in school history to compete in the 2000m Steeplechase, finishing fifth with a time of 10:35:13. Girls Track will compete next on Saturday 4/3 in the Marietta Spring Breakdown as they continue to prepare for the Region 6-AAAAA Championship Meet on April 26th and 28th at New Manchester High School.
