The Varsity Football team played its last game of the season Friday night, falling to the Lithia Springs Lions 34-7 at Grady Stadium. Grady finishes the year 1-9 overall and 1-5 in region, with their lone win coming against Region 6-AAAAA opponent North Springs.
Football began conditioning back in June and saw their season delayed multiple times before beginning competition on September 4. Embracing new safety protocols and sacrificing traditional experiences like having spectators at games, Grady finished 2020 without having to cancel or delay a single practice or game due to COVID-19 complications within the team.
In separate ceremonies before the game and at halftime, the Knights honored fifteen senior players, one senior student trainer, and seven senior cheerleaders who were participating in the last football game of their high school careers. Despite losing a strong senior class, the Knights will look to build around a young group of newcomers for 2021.
